Twitter part deux - number of entries

Twitter part deux - number of entries

Postby thwohojr » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:18 am

I've got a client that loves the idea of the twitter feed! The desired twitter info is the end-user of my client. On Dec 6 2011, the end-user twitted about using my clients product - which is exactly what was hoped for by my client.

My problem is this: my panel only shows the last 2 tweets of the enduser and the needed tweet is 4 tweets ago (strange new language twits/tweets).
I have the panel set up to show the last 15 tweets - using the Recent option - yet the panel only displays 2 with no scrollbar to access others. I've tried the applicable twitter query options, but regardless of the query my panel will only show 2 tweets. And actual just now it dropped to 1 entry  .

I also noted that Terry's project of the Little White Chapel only shows two tweets also. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Here is the link to the project: link removed (It's not yet complete, but this Twitter thing is killing me.)

What you want, is what we all probbly want... a full twat-panel at all times. But that is completely out of our control. Twitter will remove old entries automatically after x- number of days. The only way to counter that, is to make sure there is always a fresh tweet every day posted by your client ... if you decide the tweets should be from your client. You can also let the twitpanel go for search-words relating to your client's services, which might be found more widely.

I have posted 2 tweets where "Flashificator" appears in the text, and both of them have become unavailable by now. If someone knows the programmers behind Twitter, please tell them to remove this expiry feature as a default!

Your tour is taking form now. Nice to see it in action!

I was guessing that it was a Twitter issue  . I did a query for some specific wording that applies to my customer. It actually pulled up another one of their buses from a customer down in Texas (which was posted yesterday) but did not pull up the NJ bus tweet from 1 week ago.

My customer has Facebook but not Twitter - so I've suggest that they start a Twitter feed of their own and have someone post to it every 2-3 days. Even if they retweet an older post from their customer then it should show up in their Twit panel.

I'm glad to see this project moving forward again now Trausti. That project file that Proggy autopsied was bloated to 56mb... the current project with everything included weighs in at half of that.

I did a quick search, and found this:

And this here ...

and this:

maybe outdated, I haven't tested the above, but maybe they will work? I would be interested in hearing back from anyone who tries this and fails... or succeeds.

Thanks Woody and Trausti for this thread. I've just encountered to the same problem. According to my testing it is not possible to show tweets older than 6 days. Operators 'since' and 'until' works also just within the last six days period.

This is very unfortunate as it makes Twitter panel interesting just for those few clients who use Twitter on daily basis... I had a look on the links below but I don't think this would be solution for a client who use Twitter once a week, etc.

What I wonder is if there is any possible solution on FFC side? You can find heaps of plugins for blogging platforms (like Wordpress) which displays latest tweets on the website. I downloaded and install one and as I expected I didn't have any problem to display my tweets no matter how old they are. I guess someone who programmed the plugin must had used the same logic as proggy to get data from twitter. If so there should be the way how to get access to all tweets even old ones... Maybe in case of FPP it is another story but I though it could be worth to ask proggy...

Thanks
