Online FFC classes in real time

Online FFC classes in real time

Postby Trausti Hraunfjord » Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:14 am

This is what I am thinking about starting to offer ... online real time classes where people can join in and learn how to do things with Flashificator.

Anyone could join, and I am not thinking about having this as a paid service ... not for now in any case, but it is possible, depending on the time that goes into this and the interest by users, that I might charge for each session.

Every week you (the users) could bring up a list of things that you'd like to have covered in the next lesson. If there are more than one theme people want to have covered, the themes could be put up for voting, and the highest voted theme would have first priority. If each lesson is 10 minutes or 30 minutes or 60 minutes.. .that's something that could be figured out later... obviously I would have to have a reasonable time assigned to this each time, but not so much that it takes all my time and leaves me bored to death at the prospect of yet another lesson having to be carried out. This could be done once or twice or even five times a week... all depending on how much people would like this idea.

Total beginners and more advanced alike could benefit from this.

Those who are interested, can let me know, and I can give a short demonstration if need be.

The software used for this would be join.me, and you as attendees, would not have to download anything at all. My screen would be shared with all participants, and everyone could chat, and there is also a conference call option available.

This needs a little before hand planning, so no one's time will be wasted, and therefore I would like to hear from people as soon as possible. Something you would like to learn? You could put it down as a theme for the next lesson, and everyone else could learn it as well.

Please let me know what you think of this.

Sounds great, I'm in. How about a lesson about:

1. Automated tours (I just can't get them to work right).
2. Or a lesson aboout attaching functions to individual panoramas in a tour.
3. And a lessons about adding a map to a tour.
4. A lesson about editing an existing tour (for example, made one with equirectangular pictures, now I want to replace them by cube faces.Don't know how).
5. A lesson about adding third party plugins (similar to the Activeden stuff to FFC).
6. A lesson about the different kinds of hot spots and everything you can do with them.

1. That we can arrange
2. Sounds like a natural thing to do... could you explain what kind of functions you would like to apply?
3. Map, using the Mapper plugin, or building it with hotspots?
4. This should be a click and do what you want kind of thing.... but there has been a bug in the code, preventing proper replacing of panos. That has been fixed, and version 2.079 will become available soon, where this issue is resolved.
5. .... personally I have absolutely NO experience with this kind of work, so I can not be of any help in that area. I have spoken to a couple of users who have done such things, and they might be willing to share their experience if enough people would join in on a mini-seminar, where such things would be demonstrated, for a fee. Meaning that a certain number of people would have to sign up and pay in advance, and then the lesson could be had.
6. Not a problem.

This thread has had 83 views, and one request... so maybe it is 40 people viewing around 2 times. I would very much like to help out and teach what needs to be tought, but if I get only one single person to sign up for a lesson, it will kill my time. Others who may be interested in this kind of a lesson, should chime in and let me know, and then we can try to figure out a time where it is convenient for everyone to be present.

If there would be a group in the US and another in Europe, I could make the same lesson at two different times... for example at 8:00 PM EST and 20:00 GMT... or some other times.

Hi Trausti, I think this is a great idea and I would love to attend a lesson. This might be especially valuable for beginners as they would get a basics very quickly ... when you first open FFC it takes time to get a sence of it so online lesson would be great help I think. I have been working with FFC for awhile but because its so complex I am sure I missed some basics or I don't know about some functionalities, etc. So it would be good to see your working procedures and also others... ...even with the basic staff.

Did you also think about capturing those lessons and then publishing them online for others to see? It would be a good knowledge base for all users then.

Personally I would be also interested about embedding third party plugins
Thanks

It's a great idea, I'm definitely in.

It would be nice to record each session so people who couldn't make it on time have the chance to review it later.

Hi Trausti!
Fantastic idea. I´m in for sure. Few months since I´ve bought FFC and could not find the time yet to discover most of its potentiallity. This will help a lot.

Yesterday I had 84 panos to finish before the end of the month... and I still have some more shooting to do... so I am going to be completely tied up with work for the rest of the month... but it would be good to get a session in the coming month... and I encourage those who are interested, to talk together (here) and decide on subjects to be covered.

I can NOT demonstrate anything regarding insertion of 3rd party plugins... that is something I know absolutely nothing about, nor is it a feature built into FFC.

All participants should have the latest version of FFC installed, so that they can try and repeat what is being done on-screen (some of the things may only be possible with the latest version). Those who have not gotten access to the update section, need to apply for access, providing their invoice number for the purchase of FFC, and a copy of the FPP invoice.

Recording the "lessons" would be a welcome addition... if others record and link to the recordings... it would be welcome.

I wasn't thinking about a specific function, but these can include opening a popup screen, starting a sound, opening a contact or reservation form, changing something in the top (or bottom) banner when a specific panorama is opened, etcetera.

Trausti Hraunfjord wrote:3. Map, using the Mapper plugin, or building it with hotspots?

Both. So maybe two lessons about adding maps to a panorama. I have no experience yet with any of these.

Trausti Hraunfjord wrote:...a certain number of people would have to sign up and pay in advance, and then the lesson could be had.

No problem, depending of course on the price and quality of the lesson.

I'm in! This would be fantastic, but as others have said, recording the lessons would benefit not only those who can't make the live session but also those who just want to review in case they couldn't catch everything the first time around.

Definitely looking forward to this!

Hello Trausti,

the online classes are really a good idea !

I would be interested to screen capture in real time what will be done in order to place the videos accessible to FFC users too !

I would ask for realising one complete projet such as the one visibile here :

http://www.regal360.com/

From importation, to the interface development.

Thanks !!

Hey I don't know if this idea will be implemented, but I'm IN, I thing will be good to share some tricks that can help us to use FCC in a better way, I personally think that FCC has a lot of documentation and everyone is able to at least open a pano and do a simple tour, I've found FCC very intuitive and easy to work with, but obviously there's a lot of things that we need to know about it and "functions" is one of those, because in my HO is the beauty of FCC, if you dominate functions you're good to go and experiment, another thing is how to "create templates", so for me for now I'm interested to learn those two things.
I would like to know more about if this will be implemented.
Ciao.

The "final" release of FFC has been published... ok, there will probably be a few updates in order to fix bugs and errors, but it si as complete as it should be (pretty much).

I will have to find the time to provide video tutorials.. that is NOT going to happen for the next 6 weeks. I just got my 20 year old daughter on a visit... the first time I have seen her since she was 10 years old. These 6 weeks I intend to spend wisely on my family, and not on work.

I seriously don't know if my daughter will ever come back down here, or if I will go to her place of residence in the future.

Please try to accept these next few weeks without me... I WILL try to help out if I find the time... but I really can't promise anything in that regard.

Hey Trausti, enjoy your time!, yes is true that sometimes we have to put work aside for a little while, always some vacations are good to recharge batteries and specially this time of the year that family most be together!, I'm happy for you.
But in the future if you're making the "online real time classes", I'll like to be part of it!, I'm very interested, but I know that you'll be doing sacrifices with your time and I respect that, specially because you're always updating FCC and giving support for everyone that ask you a question.
So if you find a bit of time in the future to start the online classes, that will be great!
Take care man and enjoy your time in family, I'm sure everyone here will understand that!

Thank you very much for your understanding and kind words!

As soon as I get the time I will concentrate on making a complete set of video tutorials (with sound), and by doing so, I should free myself from the absolute need to have online classes. All these things take time, and I have already had many private one-on-one sessions with different people, and those may take anything from 10 minutes to 3 hours at a time... a time I could absolutely use in a more productive way for everyone.

If there are some issues I can't cover in tutorials, but which would be better covered with a live class, I will of course do that... especially if there are several people attending, who have put forth a list of things they would like to see covered.

Time will still be an issue in such a situation though... don't let me give the impression that I could cover everything in every way with classes ... since that might take way way too much time.

... but hopefully we can figure out most things.

Thanks again.

Online FFC Classes Timing

Postby eventphoto » Mon Feb 06, 2012 12:28 pm

Did the Online classes begin already ?

With Camstasia, it could be possible to capture screen and then generate a video from it.

Then eveyone here could see some processes.

If I check this sample : http://www.regal360.com/clients/devils/index.html, there are so many I do not have any idea how to do them.

It would be really nice to use this software more deeply.

For me, it would be urgent.

For you guys ?
