Connecting Pano's with Hotspots and "loadPano"

Connecting Pano's with Hotspots and "loadPano"

Postby rawtoast » Sat Oct 25, 2008 12:46 am

Hi Everyone,

I'm excited about this community helping each other (and me) like all of the other forums out there for panoramic photographers. I'm also a little embarrassed, that I have not embraced the xml the way I could/should have by this point.

Anyhow - here's my question - I watched the screen capture of how to place the png hotspots into the panorama. Now how do I use the "load pano" properly to make the hotspots load another pano?

I'd say what I did, but I think it would be more straightforward to hear a tutorial - or even better, see some screen shots of:

1. the xml (with the onClick=loadpano function)
2. where the actual "other" pano files should reside, so they can be pulled up when the png is clicked as a button.

I was able to utilize the onClick="openUrl(http://flashpanoramas.com/)" to my site as a button - so that was fun - but I'm just trying to get to creating some simple hotspots to transtion from each pano.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a separate note (but similar) - will we be able to create thumbnail images for pano navigation like a lot of the "sexy" VR guys are using in the field? Something like this company uses? http://www.virtually-anywhere.com/prici ... ex_fs.html ... I CAN'T wait to get some "sexier" navigation features like that ...

As always - I appreciate the support. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me -

Hi Eli and welcome.

I'm the guy you are supposed to kick around when things don't pan out according to your wishes, but since I am 6'4", and gaining weight, it may be a tough assignment to take me on.

As of right now, I can safely say that FFC is only geared for single pano productions (no multi node tours). You can still link between tours by going into the xml and play with things... but that is not what FFC is supposed to be about.

Tomorrow Zephyr's tooltips will be fully integrated into the program (replacing the current terrible tooltips) and I will release that version no later than monday (worst case scenario). The main programmer will then tie up a couple of loose ends, and start the work on Tourificator, which is the tour builder for Flashificator. I am afraid I can't give any estimate on how long time it will take to make the Tourificator... but it may take anything from a couple of weeks, to a couple of months if things go bad.
The second programmer is working full time on implementation of help file system for the program (enabling info on everything in the toolbox and on the preview screen to be viewed in the yellow info square). He is also working on the slide show, which will be able to serve like a pano tour chooser, or a simple slide show with images that can be called up to full screen or any other size you may want your users to have access to. There is also a zoom function built into that slide show... Since I am putting focus on the help files to be ready, the slide show is iced in the meantime. But I recon that during next week, either of the two can be released in an updated version of the program.
It has been no secret that the program would be half baked when published... that it would be updated frequently, and have as many addons as possible built into it.... now it is that time. There is much to be wished for right now, and things are coming together in real time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sexy nav bar you linked to... is very sleek and sexy... a job well done. This is indeed one of the things I would like to provide later on.... amongst other designs. Everything is possible, only limitation for us on this end, is time - the will and ability is there... but everything has a price in terms of time.

You are welcome to air your suggestions and requests at any time, and I will read and consider everything you and other users have to say. Without you all, I wouldn't be doing this at all, so you are the life-blood of my digital baby.

Hope this smooths some of the bumps, and helps you to look towards the updates, rather than to feel the absence of the desired functionalities.

Making a hotspot open a website url is easy. Not fully developed though, and still requires a single line of code from you to type... sorry for that.

The first exmple is to make the infoscreen (activated through the ( i ) (info) button open a website:

1. Start Flashificator
2. Name your project
3. Select your visual file(s)
4. Click "Plugins"
5. Click "Dashboard"
6. Click "Enable Dashboard"
7. Click "Reload" (on preview window) assuming you are only doing the basic test with this, you use the default button set..
8. Select the "dInfoScreen" in the hotspot drawer
9. In a text editor type the following: "openUrl(http://yourdomain.com/)" WITHOUT the quotation marks ""
10. Copy the text you just wrote
11. Click "Functions" tab
12. Click "Make Another Function"
13. Click "Paste text function"
In this example, you will get Function Name as "function19" and under "This was recorded" you get: "openUrl(http://yourdomain.com/)" (without the quotation marks)
14. Click "Finish"
15. Click "Attach To"
16. Click "Hotspot"
17. Click "onClick"
18. Under "Functions Created, scroll all the way down to "function 19" and click it once.
19. Click the arrow down between the 2 white boxes (Functions created and Functions Attached boxes)
20. Click "Reload" in the preview window
21. Click the info button ( i ) on the dashboard
22. Click the infoscreen and your website will open in your browser.

This looks like a TERRIBLY long list of clicks, but for now it will have to do.

Second example.
If you for instance want to make a hotspot open a new panorama, you do like this:

1. Start Flashificator
2. Name your project
3. Select your visual file(s)
4. Click "Hotspots"
5. Click the green hotspot creator
6. Click "Source" and select your image, or simply drag it from your file folder and drop it into the window or the toolbox.
7. You may have to click "Reload" on the preview window
8. In a text editor type the following: "openUrl(http://yourdomain.com/)" WITHOUT the quotation marks ""
9. Copy the text you just wrote
10. Click "Functions" tab
12. Click "Paste text function"
13. Click "Finish"
14. Click "Attach to"
15. Click "Hotspot"
16. Click "onClick"
17. Click the arrow down between the 2 white boxes (Functions created and Functions Attached boxes)
18. Click "Reload" in the preview window
19. Click the image you added the function to and your website opens in your browser

Be sure that you have at least version 2.02 installed (the zip file I have sent to you all), since the initial version on the shareit server had a bug, and the "Paste text function" didn't work.

Hopefully this is of help to all who read it... and not something that really confuses.

Hello Trausti,
are ready to mount my> 150 pan with FFC.
Some things are missing and I wanted to know the time to upgrade.

1) You can load a default GUI?
2) when we can jump from pan to pan clicking on hotspots?
3) the video you can call it when you click on hotspots?
4) I can not fix the logo on pano and does not link to go to the site ... I followed your guide but does not work.

I have more questions but for now I will confine myself to them.

Thank

Alfredo

Hi Alfredo. I had already replied to this post, but now I see that the answer has not been posted. Looks as if the response has gone to digital heaven, unseen. Sorry that I didn't notice it hadn't posted properly.

Let me try again:

1. If by "Default GUI" you mean the button setup along with the info screen, then yes, you can replace the folder containing the default images, with your own specially designed ones. Only thing you have to make sure of, is to keep the same names on the files (1.png 2.png 3.png etc). That way, the folder would always contain the same buttons. But you will not be able to save a setting where you for instance have only 3 buttons to show up in lower left corner every time you start a project. That is not possible because we have not made any save functions for the program. It will come at a later date, where you can save everything you have done, and call it back whenever you want, to change individual settings.

2. Jumping from pano to pano through hotspots can be done already now. It is not as easy as it will be with Tourificator, but it can be done.

3. I will have the video controls made for the player in the coming week or so. It desperately needs some control.

4. Fix the logo? What needs to be fixed ? and as to the guide on how to make the infoscreen (or hotspot) lead to your website or another pano, does work. You have to follow the instructions step by step. Remember to remove the quote marks "" from the line you have to type in your text editor and copy. If it comes with the quotes, it will not work.

You are always welcome to come with questions... and please, if an answer hasn't appeared from me, then do not hesitate to contact me again (as you did this time). I prefer the answers to be for everyone to see, no matter if those paint a picture that "reveals" FFC as being a far cry from perfect. The only way forward, is to listen to the customers and try to make things better all the time. That is something I will continue to do.

Hopefully the message posts this time, and sorry again.

Hello Trausti,
I try to be clear with images.
1) GUI for I (see below) intend to use interface that all overviews. You can split dal'xml principal? It avoids repeating the same operations for each pans. It earns a long time.
Image

2) The transition from a pano pano, I send a sample xml?

3) As for the logo (see diagram above) can not fix it in position to see. When I go to full screen moves toward the center.
I followed your directions to go to my site by removing the "but does not work ... xml see below.

the openrul function works, but is there a way to have the next pano load in the same window? When I follow the above guide it loads each new pano in a separate window. Best Regards, -Terry

This current method is very crude, and won't be refined until we have the Tourificator (as far as I can see).

I have to wait with more responses until later... I am beat now.

Let me make a video tutorial, supported by the text I made in the walkthrough.

If any of the steps in the prescribed walkthrough are skipped, things will not work.

Dear, I followed the letter of your clear guidance, check if you've forgotten some way.
I expect 3 things, then begin to produce my work.
1) load involved in the same window
2) call of video on demand
3) blessed link to this site

They are capable of hacking into xml file and then created the first "master" build the rest with simple copy and paste ... I hope.

+ Or - how long does it take to the famous Tourificator?
I read that you are very taken by the interface software, I hope that this will not distract from the substance.

Thank you for your commitment .... are 2 years that a decent look and your right ... that seems to replace software that is used first. ;)

Thank you
