problem with Slideshow2

problem with Slideshow2

Postby Ton den Ouden » Fri Jul 16, 2010 9:17 am

I was looking for an easy slideshow tool that could run auto, stop and move back and forth through my images.
So I tried the Slideshow2 and found that it would't step forward and backward. After some handprogramming I had that fixed and it seemed to work as I wanted.

But then I got a nasty surprise: closing te pano with the slideshow in it, going to another pano and than returning again (a visitor might do that) does all kinds of nasty things. It appears like if the slideshow is still running on top when I come back to that page and I can't find a way to stop it. I have tried slideshow2.enable=0, but that won't work. Also I found that you can't really switch it to invisible, you can only toggle. Making it invisible twice will show it again. The same with the 'auto' feature. I solved all that in a difficult way, but I found no solution for stopping the plugin.

Did I overlook someting?

Thanks, Ton

No overlooking on your end. The slideshow is close to the top of needed re-writes. This is a relic from the second programmer I had back in 2008-9 .... sadly he lacked the ability to follow through with things and think even half a step ahead....

When the next slideshow will be made, it will have to be much more flexible, you should be able to have a separate slideshow for each pano in a tour, move forward or backwards, pause, even start a tour from within the slideshow and videos should be able to play in it etc. etc.

It's not that I haven't got the ideas for how things are supposed to be, but finding the time is another issue.

Thanks Trausti, I will try to find a good alternative.
