Hi Gabs !,
Excuse me for my english (it´s very basic level), I think that the solution to all your problems is how ever ... the money ... you need to buy first a "pano-head" and second ... a fisheye lens (like nikkor 10.5 mm) ... whith this two things you will "see the light at the end of the dark tunnel".

Whith a good pano-head you will get good results whith your actual lens (18-55 mm), whith the multi-row tecnique and ptgui software ... but you will take a lot of pictures... is very hard work and if your intention is to sell your services like panophotographer this not profitable !, and in many situations whith moving objets and people is better to take how less pictures as possible using a fisheye lens.

There are many fisheye lens cheapper than nikkor 10.5 like sigma... this gives you good results too.

At this link you will find a very good review from technical, lens and pano-heads:

Best regards Gabs !

Yes, the hardware and software is essential part of taking good panos.

First off: SLR camera (which you obviously do have (Nikon D90))
Secondly: Panorama head (Various good bids for those)
Thirdly: Stitching software that works (PTGui is the only candidate out there in my opinion... it works and does the job perfectly if the photos are well shot)

With those 3 issues in house, you will be able to make very good works. Without the panorama head, you will have massive problems and won't be able to produce anything worth your efforts... well.... maybe an over-kill statement, since there are many good results from monopod users, but those are long time professionals (normally).

Hi Gabs,

If I were you I would take a good look at these pano heads - the Agnos http://www.agnos.com/prodotti.htm?v_lingua=ENG&v_iss_web=0000000009021915451934794182&v_categ_lista=P0000-P0005 & the Nodal Ninja http://www.nodalninja.com/nodal_ninja_3.html. It's important to purchase the right pano head for what you want to achieve.

I have never shot anything with a fish eye lens, so I am not speaking with any authority at all, but I would assume that PTGui will automatically straighten things up in the stitching process?

I am to buy a new camera soon, and want a fish eye lens on it, so this issue is also of my personal interest...
