Windows 7 compatibility

Windows 7 compatibility

Postby prb16 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 6:39 pm

Hi Trausti,

Just wondered about the new Windows 7 and FFC's compatibility with this platform! I know it is probably a little bit early to be asking such questions as it has only just been released.

I really don't know... but hope the best. It SHOULD work there as well.

Yesterday I installed Ubuntu 9.10 (Linux), and FFC works there, but I am not sure if everything works as it should, since I was getting rather pissed at the Ubuntu not being as user friendly as it is has been said to be. Too much code typing is needed in order to have anything done.... and that is simply a big turn-off for me.

Anyone who has tried W7 with FFC, is welcome to chime in.

I will be installing W 7 and putting through it's paces in the next few weeks so I will keep you posted on the FFC front.

Hi All,

I've had Flashificator on both the beta and now the release version of Win 7 and so far all seems
to work as expected.

BTW: I've been using Win 7 on and off since the beta and I am now building a new machine with the release installed.
After all the trials of using Vista (which I really hated), Win 7 seems like a breath of fresh air.

I know, many might say it is just Vista service pack 2. This is totally wrong. I personally, as a computer
user since before Windows v1.0 can tell you it is worth the hassle of updating. It's that good.

Anyway, that topic is for another Forum, and not FFC forums.

FFC works (so far as my testing indicates) in Win 7.

That sounds exactly as if you are using pano.swf version 2.3.1 as the main pano.swf.

Please read the following:

Important:
For FFC to work optimally, you will need BOTH version 2.2.1 and 2.3.1 of FPP's pano.swf

In the current FPP version on the Shareit servers, I understand that both versions are provided (I have not seen the "new" package personally, only referring to what I have understood).

Both versions are probably named the same (pano.swf).

Version 2.2.1 is dated October 8th 2007
Version 2.3.1 is dated March 1st 2009

Version 2.2.1 should be named pano.swf
Version 2.3.1 should be named pano2.3.1.swf

BOTH of those should be copied and pasted into the Flashificator installation folder.

... so should the following FPP files (as mentioned in the installation document):
hotspots.swf
movDecoder.swf
cylConverter.swf

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1917&p=5312&hilit=pano.swf+pano2.3.1.swf#p5312

If you have access to the FPP Google Groups, you should look for the "ESSENTIAL" file package I have uploaded there, and keep that handy.

If you haven't got access there, you should apply for it, and preferably through Freddy Stapersma (Discocandy) who is the moderator of the FPP forums ( http://flashpanoramas.com/forum )

Once you have sorted out the pano.swf and pano2.3.1.swf confusion, things should be running well for you.

Best of luck.

Trausti
