So how many photos do we need for a complete tour with this lens?

Crop: 5 shots + Zenith + Nadir
Full Frame: 3 Shots

@ 8mm.

Also keep in mind a Tour is a collection of Pano's, and a Pano is a single 360. Just a nit pick. ;)

Very cool lens, look forward to reading the reviews and seeing what the community has to say about it!

Things like this made me change sides a number of years ago.
Good to see I am still on the right side :D

I was using the http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp feature the other day, having a look at some of the newer Canon models, comparing those to my very aging Olympus E-3 (released in 2007) .... and still to this day, some of it's features are superior to Canon's.

I wish there would be more frequent releases of the pro cameras... but then again... if it has to be 4 years between each pro camera, one should get it loaded with useful features that match or preferably outshines everything the competition has to offer. I don't think Oly will be doing that... they did a good thing with the micro 4/3 EP cameras... something the others are catching up on as well... but there is a real need for better pro equipment from them.

Same can also be said about Nikon. ... and Canon.... and all the others. They are too occupied with providing dry bones and taste samples of things one wishes for, to actually do what needs to be done.

How about this Canon lens/sensor combo. Not sure if it does zenith/nadir; however, looks like the resolution is there.

That's a very limited FOV mirror system... one more for the trashcan for sure.
