Tooltip background colour #000000

Tooltip background colour #000000

Postby ondrat » Tue May 22, 2012 10:13 pm

I've just realised I am not able to set tooltip background colour to black (#000000). All the other colours are ok as far as I tried. When black is chosen from the pallete or set manually, default colour (#ffffd5) is actually used. Workaround: using #000001.

Not quite... but it may appear to be so. We now have two possibilities ... "Default" and "Selected Hotspot" settings for tooltips. If you change the default settings... let's say: Black background, white text and red outline, that will be the default for all tooltips UNLESS you decide to apply special settings for some individual tooltips. If you select the "Selected Hotspot" you will see the basic default colours... the pale yellow background, black text and gray stroke, EVEN when the default colors (and therefore the colors on the selected hotspot) are Black background, white text and red outline. Change to some other colours, and the colors for that selected hotspot tooltip will change accordingly.

If not, you have ran into an error I have not seen or heard of earlier.

Hopefully this clears up things.

Thanks Trausti for clearing up the functionality. I've understood right but I think bug is still there. When you set custom colour for selected hotspot to black (#000000) default colour is used. This is valid for Stroke and Background colour. Font colour works as it should. Honestly don't worry about it as this would not affect anyone and even if so workaround is simple. I almost regret that I've set up this thread as this is something so minor that you should not waste your valuable time with it...

No matter how small or big the issue... I want things to work as they are intended to. For me (testing this) I didn't encounter the problem you describe... other than the very default colours showing up even when default colours had been changed, when choosing "Selected Hotspot" settings... and making the changes for colours absolutely permitted me to change to black. From the sound of it, you have encountered a bug, and I would be interested in having it located and eliminated.

Can you possibly strip down the project to the absolute minimum, save it and link me to the .ffc file?

Even though this may sound like a miniscule problem, it *could* potentially cause other issues if it is *wrong enough*.... therefore my invested interest in it :)

Here it is Trausti. Let me just clarify once again what I do and where I can see a bug (easy to simulate on any project):
1. add hotspot - select tooltip - selected hotspot and add text
2. reload and on mouse over I can see tooltip text in default colours
3. change colours to green, red and blue - put mouse over the hotspot and everything is pretty good
4. now try to change colours to black black and black - on mouse over you realise that text is black but stroke and background it not and default colour is used instead of black which is not what I would expect

I attached an example if you like to take a look.
Cheers
Ondrej

Thank you, and confirmed after a simple testing... did some more tests, and this is clearly a bug, not just a simple "who cares" thingy ... I will have Proggy to take a look at this at first available opportunity.

Thank Trausti and I am sorry for poor problem description in my initial post. I promise next time I will take more time and describe it properly. Cheers O.

Your description was just fine, no problems with it at all. Problem is that I am getting mixed results.... I can get the background black, but then I can not get the border black... or vice versa... which is why I could get black background without problems... (because I was not using black in other parts of the tooltip).

Hello! Still can not use black as background and as stroke! The solution is still to write: # 000001?

Thank you!

Which version of the program?

I can (just did) have both stroke and background in black (#000000) without the need for a workaround.

This is weird... I did tests, and had no issues. Then I did tests again, and could not get things to work as they should. This is clearly a bug (or it would behave the same all the time), and is on the To-Do list for a fix. I have projects made with the latest version where I have used black in both stroke and background, and things working as they should...
