VT with subtitles?

VT with subtitles?

Postby aandres » Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:03 am

I am working on a tour of a museum that will be used in education. One thing they asked for is "subtitles" along with the audio guide, because that way the deaf children will also be able to follow it. I thought a couple of way it could be done, but I wonder if somebody has already worked with this issue and could give me some tips to develop this project. I am sure there will be some of you with experience on it!! Thank you!

aandres,

I've never done anything specifically like your project (I haven't had the request for voice overs). I am however doing some museum type work.

Off the top of my head... I'd create all of my sub-titles, make them invisible and then create a hotspot using the "deaf" icon to toggle all of the sub-titles on/off. You can find a version of this icon at: http://www.clker.com/clipart-43500.html.

Depending upon cost factors I think it would be awesome to have video clips of someone "signing" the voice-overs.

Hi Woody,

Thanks for your answer! I think that's what I am going to do. The icon should work to make the subtitles visible and also to start the sequence of subtitles. Otherwise, some of them will be missing in the meanwhile, don't you think. Anyway they don't have to be synchronized, do they? I am really happy to find people willing to help every time a doubt take over!! Thanks for that!!
See you!

hi

i working on something similar.... i just make png file as subtitles but if i have more time i think that in adobe flash you can make timeline with sound and floating subtitles very easy. i never try but it's easy to make moving animations so why no text with sound? i will get try and let you know....
