Loadmeters Tutorial

I was wondering if there is a Tutorial on or off the site on how to customize the Loadmeter in FFC
i have tried and tried.. but cant quite get it to work..

any assistance would be appreciated.

I find it easier to work with the glassmeter.fla. All you need is adobe flash and then import your png to the library and replace the glassmeter graphic and you have yourself a custom .swf file you can place into any project new or old and you have yourself a custom loadmeter.

Terry is right (of course), but for those that do not have access to the rather expensive Flash suite, the logometer is a desirable option to use, but it is quite difficult to figure out, even after it has been provided with default images and settings that make it easier to see what does what.

The programmer has been working on a new more simple custom loadmeter that will (hopefully) be less complicated to set up and change.

Very true the Adobe suite is needed or at least adobe flash. For those of you who have not used up the 30 day trial go to adobe and download flash cs5 and try it out for 30 days and you can at least get a free custom logo loader out of it. If my memory is correct you can simply name your new design as "loader.png" and when you import it to the library it will ask you if you want to replace the "loader.png" in the project and you select yes. You may still need to position the graphic but that should be it.

I open the logometer.fla and then what I see only a gray rectangular box

Exactly ok now look on your right and click library. You should see an image called loader.png or something close to that. Click "file" import to library" select your graphic, just make sure its called the same name ie "loader.png" and import it. Once imported you will see it in the top left part of your screen just outside the gray box, use the scroll bars to move up and to the left if you need to.

Where is located Flashificators loader? is .swf same file like .fla ?

Ok now we are talking the same language
So I import my logo with the same name do I Have to align the logo with the bar?
and where I add the file then I cannot find where the default .fla is located

You MAY need to align the logo with the bar depending on how large your replacement image is. You can click the new graphic once you import and replace the old one and drag it into the proper position. You can also adjust the size of the progress bar but that gets a little more complicated. If you want to adjust the loading bar you need to select it and go to "properties" on the right and adjust the size by changing the "W" and "H". You can also play with the positioning by going to "window" and "align" but I suggest you don't dive to deep into this unless you are comfortable with flash. The absolute easiest method would be to simply create a replacement image with roughly the same dimensions as the loader.png and replace it. However if you are brave you can really customize it as much as you like. Once you are happy go to "file" "publish settings" adjust the quality to 100 in the flash tab (if you want) and then export the file by going to "file" "export" it will create a .swf file in the same directory called "glassMeter.swf" unless you changed the name. Simply copy the file into the directory of your project "files" "plugins" and replace the glassMeter.swf. *NOTE that you will have needed to select "glass meter" inside ffc to be able to simply replace the file before exporting it. If you have already exported from ffc and used something else let me know because you will need to change one line of code in xml.

yes once you replace the glassMeter.swf and launch the index.html file you SHOULD see your new loader.

Hi Terry & Trausti,

Following the discussions (above) I've tried it... and I'm thinking that:

1) as outlined above, fiddled with: C:\Users\V. Kelly Bellis\Documents\FPP_v2.3\FPP_v2.3\plugins\glassMeter.fla in Flash
2) published from Flash as outlined above
3) should this be renamed and relocated to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Flashificator\ffc_glassMeter.swf ???

Is that about correct or am I missing something else?

And won't subsequent updates of Flashificator overwrite it every time?

I tried introducing an additional graphic (swf) in Flash but after I Flashified, that image lingered like a static hotspot.
