The Winter Festival

The Winter Festival

Postby ondrat » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:52 am

Hi guys, this small project of a local winter festival is not someting to write home about but I'd like to share it anyway. It was certainly interesting experince to ice skate at the ice rink build up on the beach. Don't let the snowfall in the virtual tour deceive yourself, no one in Sydney has ever saw a snow ;)
Photos were taken from a pole so I had to use reasonable fast shutter speed even for night shots which turned out to be extremelly bad quality and I was hesitated to publish them but client was happy so it went on.

Feel free to leave a comment, constructive criticism is very welcome indeed
Cheers

Very nice Ondrej, but if that is winter, then I am a horse's ass!! :D

I love the colours in the opening shot, and especially the almost 3D aspect that jumps out of the screen. Is there something you would consider sharing about your processing technique there?
Congratulations on a brilliant presentation!

Thank for feedback Jon,
yes I agree, I know very well how winter look and it is far from what they call winter here :) btw It has been pretty cold winter this year here ... as low as +6 degrees at night ... seriously freezing :D

Thanks for the compliment, there is no magic involved here. It was actually pretty simple workflow as there was no HDR involved. Just stitching and few touches in LR really. Funny you mentioned colours. I was quite dissapointed with them as I took the shot when Sun was partly behind the cloud. Anyway I have to say I am extremelly happy with Canon 8-15, color reproduction is superb and it is a great lens overall. Please feel free to ask if you have any question about processing, etc.

Cheers
Ondrej
