Sound Spots

Sound Spots

Postby Trausti Hraunfjord » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:08 pm

Finally fully implemented and working, the Sound Spot addition to mp3 hotspots.

Here you can see an example where sounds have been attached to the dashboard buttons, and to a "transparent" hotspot over a door.

http://flashificator.com/1/Diverse/DashboardSounds

This is found in version 2.078 (when this is written, that version has not been released yet).

More life added to panos with this... moving further away from the "silent pano era".

Basic info on howto:
To attach sounds to hotspots. You can
1: Drop a mp3 into the pano
2. Create a set of buttons
3. Delete the source images for the buttons in Hotspots tab (source)
4. Turn off the "Autostart" (default) for playing the sound in the mp3 tab
5. Set "Repeat" to 0 unless you want the sound to play more than once
6. Go to Functions tab
7. Assuming you have a hotspot on screen that should have a sound assigned... for instance dashboard "Info button", you would select that hotspot in the hotspot drawer
8. Locate the sound(number)Play in the Functions list and double click it for editing
9. Delete the "visible=0" and "sound(number)_pause.visible=1" entries from the list, leaving only "sound(number).file=play" in there and click "Finish"
10. Click the "onOver" radio button in the events list
11. Select the "sound(number)Play" function and click the arrow between the lists to attach it to the selected (info) hotspot
12. Do the same functions editing for the sound(number)Stop" function... and attach it to the same hotspot (or the infoscreen itself) with an "onOut" or "onClick" or whatever other event.

This will make the sound play when the mouse goes over the hotspot in question, and stop when it goes out of it.

Nice Trausti!

I can see some interesting uses for this. I'm sure other users will come up with something very clever.

My first thought is that it will help incorporate narration. As we mouse over elements of the panorama we may get a description or some information.

Exactly... I have long wanted to have the set of dashboard hotspots equipped with sounds: "Click to go left" "Click to go right" "Click to zoom in" etc. etc. Same with places in the panos... a doorway: "Click to enter the restaurant" "Click to see this image in detail" or long descriptions where onOver would start playing the information sound... "this is the first story of 1001 nights... once upon a time... ". The onOut event could pause the player, and a click on the player again might act as a stop. There are endless possibilities to use sounds with panos, and I know that Terry has something very big planned.

I feel stupid for not understanding a few things!

"Create a set of buttons" Do you mean the dashboard buttons?

"Delete the source images....." How to delete the source images?

"Locate the the sound(number)Play in the Functions list....." I can not find it.

Please help me to sort this out!

Version 2.078 is still not released, and these features are not available in the current beta 2.077.... so you won't find it yet.

Line 4 in my initial post indicated as much.

There are things to be sorted out with other parts of the program before next beta release, but I hope we can have a test drive with it before long.

Version 2.078 is found in the update section now... it is not the very latest possibly available version (if I had Proggy to render one now, it would be better) ... but it is the one I am using, and a few others who have had it for testing.

This does open new doors for more interesting and living projects.

Please download the latest version of FFC I have just uploaded to the update section.

To connect a sound to a hotspot:

1. Drag and drop a mp3 file onto a hotspot.
2. Click the hotspot and the sound will play.

I am still out of time and can not be of much help right now (or in the coming days as things are)... but the new version is supposedly bug and error free, and contains many new features and fixes that should benefit everyone.

My apologies to everyone who really need to get my attention but who haven't been able to. Your chances of catching me are much better if you contact me through Skype, where my username is "hraunfjord".

Leave me a message there, and I will get in touch as soon as I can.

Why are my hotspots comletely jagged during autorotation in the project flashificated by new FFC 2.085 (In FFC project windows it appears ok)? It was ok in previous version - is it some bug, or I should just adjust some settings?
Thanks, Igor

I have not been able to create any difference in the way that hotspots look between versions, if all the same settings are used. Check the speed of your autorotator. If the older version runs slower and looks better, then try to make the never version run even slower on autorotation, and it will look better than the old version.

If I am not right about that, it would be very good to see an example of the same tour, one made with an older version, one with the new one, with exactly the same settings on everything. If there still is a difference, there has to be a reason for it, but after me doing some testing between different versions, I haven't been able to produce a different outcome.
