SOLVED (in version 2.088) - Problem with 2.085

Postby Morten » Thu Sep 22, 2011 10:41 am

G'day all,

I have just recreated a couple of tours using the new 2.085 Version of Flashificator. I have the same problem on three tours that I have tested. When the 'Auto-rotate' starts working it causes all hotspots to shift and look slightly pixilated. I hope it is not too difficult to find what the problem is.

Here is an example of what I am seeing;

http://trueview.com.au/test2.085/

Here is the same tour created with the older 2.08 Version;

http://trueview.com.au/guildford/

I would be interested to know if others are having this issue.

Regards,

Morten

The "earlier" version runs the autorotator slower than the 85 version, and that makes all the difference. The autorotator is not the best invention for quality, and the faster it goes, the less time there is for the computer to update the rendering of the hotspots, and this causes the torn look.

If you set the autorotator to the exact same speed, I am pretty sure that it will look exactly the same.

Hopefully I will be around when you report back :) ... I am so ashamed of having had to stay away from forums, messages and mails for over a month... there simply hasn't been any time for me to do what has been needed.

Okay, so thanks to Windows Virtual PC I can have both versions in one pc - I have oldier version in one OS and new 2.085 in win XP mode.
I Flashificated the same project first in new version - hotspots are pixelated. Then I copied ffc file to another OS and run it in older version of FFC + Tourificated it. The result compared, older version is ok, new one has pixelated hotspot images.
Autorotator plugin has the same settings in both cases...

Hi Trausti,
I downloaded the new version of FFC and it does not replace the existing version on the pc. I get a message saying there is already a version of this program please install on a new location.
I deleted the installed version including the "resource files" and installed the new version 2.085 but it didn't work, meaning, I launched the program, named the project, choosed a file(jpg) for the project, but nothing did displayed. When I looked at the program files I notice that the resource files has not been installed. I deleted the new verion reinstalled the old version and it worked fine no problem also the resource files was installed with it.

Is there a problem installing the new version from new?

Tonight I did some proper testing, and I have seen the pixelation with my own eyes, so now I understand that this really IS an issue. Proggy tells me that it is the autorotator that is causing this... he made some changes to it a while back... relating to Flash 10 quality settings, and that is (most likely) what is causing this.

As soon as this issue has been located and fixed, I will provide a new version in the update section, so you will be notified of it when you start FFC.

Sorry for the delay in actually checking this properly... time and all that is my normal excuse... this time is no different.

Thanks Trausti,

I too have tested quite extensively and feel quite certain there is an issue. I played with the settings within the plugin and could not get rid of the initial jitter followed by a degredation of all hotspot image quality.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit (service pack 1) with Flash Player 10,3,183,10. I have a quad core CPU and 8 GB of RAM.

yes, exactly, like Morten said - I have even better HW.
thanks Trausti - in such a case it is probably better for everybody to not download this version to prevent the confusion

The fix will be simple and easy for people to implement... depending on the scope of the project, one can use a slightly older pano.swf , so I wouldn't go as far as discouraging use of this version... but the sooner this is fixed, the happier we can all be.

Is there any way to solve the problem while waiting for the new version?

Sure there is a fix.

If you need to manually fix a published project, change the autorotator setting from low to medium:

<autorotator>
quality = medium
tilt = 0
</autorotator>

If you are working on a project, change the autorotator setting from low to medium in it's workspace.

The next updated version will be put back to medium by default... thereby avoiding this issue.

The timeout parameter is broken in the new autorotator. Changing the number has no effect on the timeout. Please check.

Although I am still using 2.08 (I have started my project in this version, so I prefer to finish it in this also :D) I have tested this with 2.085 and according to my test, it helped.
However I remember that this was the first what I have tried to change after I installed 2.085 and found this bug - and at that time this did not help!
I do not know, what I did differently, but somehow now it works, at least for me - If I change to medium, the images are not pixelated, if I put it back to low, again the same problem...
