Yet a another newbie question - I would like to insert some text titles either has a hotspot or button ? - Can only do this by inserting a graphic image with the text on graphic ? I just cannot find any reference anywhere.

Thanks

What format files do you want to include?

If you are talking about using html text, it could be possible by using a Flash text reader and using that. I am certain there are things like this available; if not, one could be made quite cheaply, so try freelancer.com.

You would need to add a graphic to your skin and assign it the attributes you want. Once published, you will need to edit the xml file (e.g. "text-reader.png") and replace the reference to the graphic ("text-reader.swf") with the name of the swf file that imports your text. It might be worth, dare I say, having a look at Arturo's html text box that he offer's for sale on the Pano2VR forum. If I remember right, this is an external swf that does exactly what you want. There is no reason why this cannot be used with an FFC project. But I am guessing.

I have to say that this is the most preferable solution, if such a thing is available, since it will provide the clearest rendering. However, if it is only small chunks of text, a graphic should suffice.

Yes Boothy,

You can produce your text in a editing suite (Photoshop etc.). You may prefer to use "png" files with transparent background. You can then place them on any background or other design elements you create within the tour.

Once you have introduced them (as hotspots) you can create functions like; 'on click', 'on over' etc. Let us know if we are answering your question and if you need more help.

Thanks Guys

I was hoping to input direct html text like some of the competitors but I am content to use rastered text (which is not quite has crisp and limts size in clarity terms) on the basis the program offers so much more in other areas.

I am very new at this program so forgive any potential ignorance but direct html text input such as available in Pano2vr`s skin editor would make this program even better. Its not the end of the world to insert into another html file containing the text after publishing but would just love to have one program which does all to reduce workflow. I really do not want anything really fancy - just some simple text boxes to provide project or pano titles, even if you have to insert code variables similar to Pano2vr. Rastered text always looks a bit fuzzy, particularly when in direct comparison to html tool tips already present within tour.

Thanks again for putting up with my basic questions and I will try some of the suggested workarounds

Well, the problem with the Pano2vr text input is that it is always reliant on the user's computer font, as would any sort of html input; thus, you are more restricted in one way than when using a png file. Personally, I think it also has limitations in that when I used Pano2vr, I could never quite get the "sexy" feel with the text that I wanted and then often had to revert to using imported graphics.

I wouldn't for a moment think that this is a problem with FFC, since there are many ways around it. The one I mentioned earlier, using the text scroller from Arturo's offerings on Pano2vr will do an excellent job, if you need a text box. I think it cost me something like 10 euros and a couple of hours to style it as I wanted and the result was very good.

Thanks Burosh

They all look promising - I will give them a try

Can I just use these within FFC ?

Only through hand-coding after finishing your project in FFC.

Hi

After further experimentation I found it much easier and quicker to produce a static SWF file in adobe flash and insert that into the hotspot - the published render quality (compared to standard rastered font) of text is much better. I now have this templated and therefore takes seconds to change.

Perfect! :)

I don't know my way around Flash content creation ... and many other things, but this is clearly better than simply dropping a png image in the pano. Something to keep in mind for future projects for sure.
