New Web Site Looks Fantastic Trausti!

Sorry not to have stopped in sooner and more often here on the forum - I miss this stuff and all the folks in this community.

I just checked out the new FFC web site - easy enough to get from the FFC interface with just a click on the far right edge of the interface. Very nice work Trausti - the site really looks great.

One suggestion for you to consider is the addition of meta data to all of your pages intended to optimize search engine results; e.g., meta data describing you, your products, services, keywords, etc. The code (placed under the <head> tag will be seen by robots which will then permit folks to find your site quickly.

Here's an example from my own site:
Code: Select all
<meta name="description" content="Panocea.us features the interactive panoramic images by Maine photographer Kelly Bellis along with his other photographic imagery, reviews of software and other musings." />
   <meta name="keywords" content="Kelly Bellis,panocea,panorama,virtual tour,photographer,panographer,artist,writer,flashificator,flash panorama,Ellsworth,Maine,Hancock County,Hancock County Photographers,Hancock County Photography Club,CCAD,Columbus College of Art &amp; Design" />

Presently, there are no meta data for the primary index page at http://flashificator.com/; particularly for the "description" and "keywords".

Kind regards,

Kelly

Thank you for kind words and sane suggestion :)

I ran out of time (bla, bla, blah...) when I first started making the website... almost a month passed by until I was able to take part of two days to wrap it up and put it online. Things like metadata and even the extra packages; Combo+PaCo and De Branding have not been put together yet.

I would have liked to put the chat widget of the website to work here in the forums as well, but I have not found a way to do it through the template style file as has been suggested, but that would be a nice addition to the service.

My plan was to get some video tutorials done this weekend, but that seems to be running into unforeseen issues (family things), but video tutorials are now on top of my list of things to do.

Proggy is making great progress on the OMM (Object Movie Maker), and it will for sure provide better performance than any other Object movie player (flash based), and according to planned progress, it is quite likely that we will be seeing full screen Object movies that will have good visual quality images and low memory/cpu consumption, along with speedy download times. Almost too good to be true, but it is more than half-way there already.

Is there any samples of this that we can see yet? This sounds very exciting! :D

Before the end of the weekend I will have Proggy put up a test example. I have an example from yesterday online, but the code in it is not protected.... so ... no way I can put that link up publicly. An older example I have shown to a couple of people in the community, is so much inferior in the loading process compared to the latest one, that I prefer not muddying the waters by showing it off.

okay, that doesn't really tell me anything that hadn't been said in this thread.

Is it anything like Windows Movie Maker?

The opposite of panoramas. In panoramas the camera looks outwards, in Object movies you have the camera looking inwards at an object which can be rotated to view it all around.

Here is a GOOD example:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/3DImage.jsp/sku/583953

Far better than what we will be coming up with, but it is computer generated, not made by photos which everyone can do, so it doesn't really belong in the same category... just putting it there to give an idea of the possibilities.

Here is an example for testing... should be quick to load, this is made with 36 images, sized at 1024x768 pixels.

That's very cool Trausti. Looks like it took about 5 minutes to shoot! :)

If you have a Promote controller, you can do focus stacking, though I've only read about it and watched the video on their web site, something that might be handy for making object movies.

What will your new software be called?

Now that I start to look around, I see more examples of object movie making software currently available; Object2VR and Modelweaver, and then others that have come and gone :o

If you're looking for testers, I'm up for it; however, as I've already demonstrated, know very little about anything related to making object movies - it just looks like it might be fun :)

Yes, 5 minutes from start to finish... that is the price of having little terrorists (kids) requesting attention... the real shooting time was closer to 2 minutes.

If you want someone to test the software .. i am here .... hehehe :P

Thanks Liao.

The first release will be a basic one, with only one level (360°rotation), zoom feature. autorotation and manual movement. Proggy will build upon it and add hotspots and multi angle support, and that will be the "pro" version of it. Later on he will make a version for mobile devices to accompany it for iDevices and Androids.

Hello Trausti,

I need the replace some old objects made by Object2vr in an project that was done last year. Now the people that hired me are asking for solutions!!! Do you have any idea of the time when the new program developed by Progggy will be finished?

Thanks for the help and I will apreciate you fast answer just to know what to promise to these people!

Proggy has been working on it every moment he has found available... here is the latest example he has uploaded for testing: http://goo.gl/OA2QL
Last thing I know he was doing, was to organize the code to avoid it from getting cluttered. Autorotation is about to be built into it along with a loading meter of some kind... which will indicate loading progress... and then it is pretty much ready to have a user interface created for it and released.
The loading sequence is working very well now, there is low-res initially, and full-res images gradually replace the low-res as they download. You can "throw" the movie... meaning that you click and drag it, and while moving the mouse, you release the mouse button. The object movie will spin and gradually lose speed until it stops. The zoom feature we decided on, was to provide a magnifying glass ... I wanted this rather than zooming the whole image, based on my personal dislike for a whole image zoomed in, then when you move it, you are not getting anything visually appealing - things just rush past your eyes without anything to actually see. Some software does not permit moving the object movie while it is zoomed in to, so in order to move it again, you would need to zoom out to default view first. So ours is a simpler... and more logical solution in my view. Click the image for half a second without moving the mouse and the magnifying glass pops up. You will see that the magnifying glass distorts the magnified area as it would in the real world (using a badly polished piece of glass)... this gives it more realistic feeling. But there will also be an option for a clean and clear magnifier, where there is no distortion.

Hopefully this keeps your interest alive....

So will there be a multi-res with this? Or just low-res to high res? Love the inertia effect.

The basic version will be without image protection, domain lock and multi levels, while those things are planned for the "pro" version, along with some other features.

Hi, thanks for the news and I am happy to know that the project's still alive. Can you give an idea of how much time will it take to have the first version of the program available?

Thanks again
