Flashificator vs pano2vr

Flashificator vs pano2vr

Postby nvlass » Tue Apr 20, 2010 4:36 pm

Hello to everyone.
I am new in this kind of photography. I know I will hear only good things here but I want your honest answer. I have a dilemma about those 2 programs. I have already the PTGui and I work on Windows 7 64bit.
I am willing to learn. I know nothing from HTML. I need to start very soon so I need to buy one of them. Which has more possibilities ? Is it so difficult flashificator as some are saying. I really like 360regal work If I will do something I want to do it in that way or nothing. I hope that I could ask the owner of that site some advises or some tips. As far as I now he use the flashificator

Thank you

Hi,

As you know quality of the tour or pictures mainly depends on you ;) So you can get crappy results even with the best program available if you don't know how to handle it.
In Flasificator some things are straightforward, but then again to achieve some simple effect you have to jump through 20 hoops to get it done.
But about Pano2VR it's good for producing different panorama formats, cubes, movs strips.. Can't really comment on making tours with it, at first glance it looks too basic, but i'm sure i'm wrong.
Both programs have trial versions, try them, it gives quick overview and which is more comfortable for you.
Price is almost the same..

Cheers!

In case you didn't know, Flashificator (FFC) is not standalone. It means that it will not work without a license of FlashPanorama (FPP), which does not have a trial version.
Both are well worth their prices though.
Combined with the brilliant plugins from Tommy (AllSaints) it seems to be almost limitless :)
Can't speak for Pano2VR, as I have never used it.

Tommys plugins are at http://wirestam.com/panos/Flash/plugins/ All are free, and very well documented :)
You should also read the FPP forum at http://flashpanoramas.com/forum/
There are some free templates available on this FFC forum.

There are some tutorials and doc on this forum, but they are not very updated.
Basically you should start with 6 cubefaces (from PTgui?)
Start FFC and give your project a name.
Drag and drop one of your cubefaces (FFC understands/translates the non-standard naming from PTgui) on FFC.
Flashificate, and you have your first web page with an interactive panorama.
Then check out the templates, Dashboard plugin, hotspots (spot/box) and Tourificator.
You can add another pano by drag/drop a small hotspot file (preferably PNG/GIF) into the pano, and drop a cubeface from the new pano onto it. Now you have a VR tour.
There are lots of options and variations possible.

Yes I have the PTGUI Pro
What do you mean by drop one of the 6 cubefaces?

Drag/Dropping is standard Windows and Mac procedure, isn't it?
You have a window open with either Explorer or some drag/drop-capable image browser with your cube face files.
Then you click the cubeface file and drag it over the FFC window, where you drop it by releasing the mouse button.
